Robert A Young Federal Building

The Robert A. Young Federal Building, sometimes referred to as the RAY; building, stands 20 stories tall and provides functional office space for many federal agencies.  Built in 1931, the building was originally a warehouse for the Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis before the federal government acquired it in 1941.

Our bid included replacing 12 chilled water coils on AHU#3 roof mounted air house on the 11th floor.  The weather in St. Louis is always unpredictable. The overarching challenge on this project was in the tight schedule to get the project completed before the first 55 degree Fahrenheit day in spring.  Due to our extensive vendor network we managed to put a plan into action based on the constant variables of warm weather, snow and ice and expedited the shipment of the necessary coils.  Ultimately, working throughout a weekend shutdown MC Service saw a small window of opportunity and completed the project 3 weeks ahead of schedule.
